It has been about six weeks since we endured Hurricane Ike. The power went out today for the first time since it was restored after the storm. Almost immediately, all our neighbors were out in their driveways, talking to each other about the outage, their children playing in the street again.

Yes, I lived through Hurricane Ike. We “hunkered down” and sheltered in place. Other than having children, it is the scariest thing I have ever done.
