Chinese Democracy Alive and Well

Beijing (BBP) – The new Guns N’ Roses album, Chinese Democracy, has already drawn a sharp outcry from the Chinese government.

The title track of the long-awaited album has not been released in China because of its sensitive subject matter. The album’s official website has also been blocked in China.

Spokesman Qin Gang of the Ministry of Glorious People’s Free Speech has called the album a “venomous attack” on Chinese sovereignty. Even President Bush has weighed in with a helpful explanation of sovereignty in his weekly radio address over the weekend.

Meanwhile, other headlines in China keeping the government busy of late include Police Killer Executed (November 2008), Food Safety Head Executed (July 2007), Uighur Activist Executed (February 2007), Dam Protester Executed (December 2006) and Death Row Trial Flawed (November 2008).
